In Sri Lanka, a Chinese tourist suffered serious injuries when she was struck by a moving train while trying to take a selfie. The 35-year-old woman, who was in critical condition with severe head and leg injuries, was involved in the incident on March 9, when she stepped off a train in Nuwara Eliya to take a selfie and accidentally collided with the train's wall. The woman's identity has not been disclosed, and she was swiftly transported to the regional hospital in Haputale, then transferred to other medical facilities for assistance and specialized care. The Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka issued a warning on its website, reminding tourists to 'stay away from train doors and not to step off for selfies.' Selfies taken with bodies or heads leaning out of moving trains have become prevalent among Chinese tourists in Sri Lanka and are shared on social media. Last December, it was reported that another Chinese tourist fell from a train while trying to take a video. Fortunately, she only received light injuries. In February, a 53-year-old Russian tourist died after stepping off a train to take a photo. A local tourist guide named Krish highlighted the dangerous behaviors, noting that several people have suffered injuries and even died due to similar actions. He advised tourists to take a slow-moving train called 'Kalebus,' specifically designated for those wanting to take photographs.
